Principal's Message

The School of Engineering (SOE) was established in the year 1978 under Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) initially for Post Graduate Courses in Engineering. Later the School started B.Tech programmes in conventional BTech disciplines and introduced novel courses like Safety & Fire Engineering and Information Technology for the first time in the history of Technical Education in India. In between the School became a centre of Research and Development (R&D).
Presently SOE is offering 7 BTech Programmes, 10 MTech programmes and Research Programmes leading to PhD in most of the areas of Engineering and Technology. School has accomplished projects worth more than 250 lakhs through its R&D.
Annually CUSAT is conducting CAT examination all over India for BTech Programme and it is a delight to have a cosmopolitan atmosphere in our campus with students representation from almost all over India. Our School is the Largest Academic Unit of CUSAT with more than 2500 students in its roll. We have a remarkable achievement in placement activities for the students.
Engineering and Technology is undergoing profound, unprecedented and fast paced changes. We are in a very competitive scenario which interestingly offers both opportunities and challenges. Quality is the criteria, concern and key for survival.
SOE has completed 38 years of its existence for the pious purpose of Education and Training and has to rejuvenate itself on different fronts- be it on Examinations, Publications, Placements, Training or Technology. We have a number of highly qualified, knowledgeable and experienced Faculty willing to contribute selflessly yet significantly with their continued involvement for this institution.
Let each one of us make an effort to comprehend the way in which our Institution take a new shape - according to the changes in Social and Technological imperatives and let us also make an assessment of how we are contributing towards these trends and how we can contribute in the future. It is a collective responsibility of Faculty, Parents and Students. Together we can strive for the betterment of the School, the University and the Nation.
Swami Vivekananda quotes 'Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man'. With these words and greetings, may I conclude.
