With the aim of providing quality higher education on par with international standards, School of engineering was established in 1978 for offering part-time M.Tech programmes in the major disciplines of engineering viz.Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering for practicing engineers in and around Cochin. The mission of the School of engineering is to produce human resources those who are creative , competitive and innovative with high intellect and ethical values. It always strives to impart quality education to meet the needs of profession and society, and achieve excellence in teaching – learning and research. School of engineering persistently seeks and adopts innovative methods to improve the quality of education on a consistent basis. Research activities were introduced in 1981 with Ph.D. Programmes.The School introduced B.Tech. Programmes in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology in 1995, which turned out to be a milestone in the growth of the School. B.Tech. in Safety and Fire Engineering was added in 1996. A five-year integrated M.Sc. Program in Software Engineering was started in 2001. The campus has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with students from all corners of the globe. Experienced and learned teachers are strongly encouraged to nurture the students. SOE creates a converging learning environment to serve a dynamically evolving society and promote innovation for sustainable solutions by forging global collaborations with academia and industry in cutting-edge research.

There has been a consistent growth in our placements record too. Students graduating from School of engineering have contributed to the incredible pace of India's growth over the last couple of decades. The access to world class academics and facilities at SOE provides our students the tools to excel in this highly competitive and fast advancing world. The Placement Cell has been striving continuously to match the students with their dream jobs resulting in a win-win situation for the student and the hiring organization. The School of Engineering has been well accepted as a research center. A number of research projects have been sanctioned to the School by agencies like DSDT,Central Water Commission, ISRO, AICTE, Coir Board, Kerala State Coir Corporation, etc. These have helped to establish fully equipped laboratories and promote research activities. These facilities are adequate to cater to the needs of Research activities. And also the campus is vibrant with a lot of co-curricular activities helping to bring out all- rounded individuals.
